Brave Voices: Marta on Strength and Support

Meet Marta: Learning Coach at Brave Future

As part of our Meet the Team series at Brave Future, we’re proud to spotlight the people behind our mission, those who show up every day with purpose, compassion, and a drive to make a difference. Today, we’re excited to introduce Marta, one of our inspiring Learning Coaches.

A Steady Presence in a Challenging Journey

Marta regularly checks in with her learners, creating space for honest conversations about progress, challenges, and goals. She checks in not only on academics, but also on well-being, offering structure, encouragement, and a listening ear.

“If I had to describe my role in one word, it would be ‘Tutor,’” Marta shares. “But in truth, it’s so much more than that. I’m not just here to explain content. I’m here to walk alongside them, especially when things feel uncertain.”

Her consistency and presence have become a grounding force for many of our students, especially those navigating major life transitions.

Bringing a Trauma-Informed Lens

Currently, Marta is expanding her understanding of trauma-informed education. Many of the girls she supports, particularly those from Afghanistan, carry emotional burdens that go far beyond academic concerns. Marta is committed to becoming more attuned to their needs.

“I’m learning how to better support them emotionally, not just academically,” she explains. “Because sometimes the most important thing I can do is simply be someone they trust, someone who hears them without judgment.”

This work, for Marta, is deeply personal. It reflects her belief that education should be rooted in empathy, and that healing and learning can, and must-go hand in hand.

Driven by the Strength of Her Students

Marta’s greatest source of motivation? The girls she works with.

“Their determination is what keeps me going,” she says. “Week after week, no matter the challenges, they show up. They’re committed. And that kind of resilience is incredibly powerful.”

As a young woman herself, Marta feels a strong connection to the learners in her care. She sees their courage, their ambition, and their vulnerability and it fuels her drive to show up fully.

“I want them to know they’re not alone,” she says. “I believe in them. Even if we change just one life for the better, it’s worth it.”

More Than Just a Coach

Marta’s approach to her role is both thoughtful and wholehearted. She brings warmth, strength, and wisdom to every session and a spark of personality that’s uniquely her own.

Fun fact: She practices Muay Thai and has even won a fight in the ring! (But don’t worry, she’s never had to use those skills outside the gym!)

Her discipline, confidence, and passion carry into everything she does, making her not just a coach, but a true role model.

At Brave Future, Marta plays an essential role in supporting our learners. Her steady presence and thoughtful approach make a real difference, one conversation, one learner, one step at a time.
