Brave Voices: Beth on Mentorship and Innovation

Meet Beth: Tech Leader, Mentor, and Founder of DevDay

As part of our Brave Voices series at Brave Future, we’re proud to spotlight the individuals behind our mission, those who bring innovation, compassion, and a bold vision for what education can be.

Today, we’re excited to introduce Beth, our Technology Mentor, whose journey reflects the quiet strength and relentless curiosity that define Brave Future. Whether she’s coaching a learner through machine learning concepts, building her own tech platform, or watching her favorite Korean dramas, Beth brings her full self into everything she does.

A Motivating Journey

Beth describes her experience with Brave Future in one word: “Motivating.”

From the very beginning, Beth saw Brave Future as more than just a volunteer opportunity, it was a space to grow, to give, and to rediscover her own values around education, hard work, and impact. She shares that working with the learners, especially the girls from our HerRight program, has reshaped how she approaches mentorship and what she believes education can do.

“Through Brave Future, I’ve seen how hard work isn’t just about output. It’s about growth. It’s about character. And it’s about showing up for someone else in a way that sticks with them.”

Inspiring Learners, One Call at a Time

One of Beth’s most memorable experiences was mentoring a learner named N., a curious and passionate student who shared Beth’s love for tech. Week after week, they met virtually to explore topics like blockchain, machine learning, and coding languages. What started as structured support soon became a mutual exchange of ideas, questions, and inspiration.

Beth still remembers the excitement of those calls and hopes to one day meet N. in person.

“There’s something really special about connecting with someone halfway across the world over a shared passion, watching them grow in confidence and skill, and knowing you played a small part in that.”

A Mentor, and So Much More

Beth’s impact extends far beyond the virtual classroom. She’s also the founder of DevDay, the first AI collaboration assessment platform of its kind. As she prepares for a public launch later this year, Beth is navigating the exciting (and often overwhelming) challenges of early-stage startup life, testing pilots with select users, refining features, and balancing purpose with scale.

Despite her growing workload, she continues to mentor with Brave Future, driven by a deep belief in accessible education and a desire to give back.

“Having grown up with access to quality education and attending a top university, I’ve always known that not everyone gets the same chances. That’s what drives me. I want the girls I mentor to live as carefree a life as possible, to dream big and know they’re supported.”

A Personal Touch

Beth’s learners know her not just as a tech mentor, but as someone with warmth and authenticity. She often shares personal stories and isn’t afraid to bring her full self to every session, including her love for Korean dramas.

Reply 1988 is my all-time favorite,” she laughs. “I even got my partner hooked… though I’m pretty sure he was just being supportive during the binge sessions.”

Why Her Story Matters

At Brave Future, Beth’s presence is a reminder that technical mentorship is not just about knowledge, it’s about connection. It’s about nurturing potential, celebrating growth, and meeting learners where they are.

Beth embodies the values we hold close: curiosity, consistency, empathy, and excellence.

Through her work, both as a mentor and as a founder, she is creating real impact, not only building tools for the future, but helping learners see themselves in it.
