Brave Voices: Ajay Singh - A Catalyst for Confidence

Today, we’re proud to introduce Ajay Singh, Course Manager for IGCSE Mathematics at Brave Generation Academy Portugal, whose approach to teaching turns numbers into a language of possibility.

A Catalyst for Confidence

If Ajay had to describe his role in one word, it would be catalyst.

“I aim to be the spark that ignites confidence and curiosity in my students,” he says. For him, mathematics is not just about solving equations but about unlocking the hidden potential in every learner.

Bridging Opportunities Across Borders

Ajay’s current focus stretches far beyond the classroom.

“I’m working on bridging global opportunities for determined learners in places like Kakuma and Gaza. The first step is helping them feel comfortable enough to learn and express themselves freely. Brave Future is breaking down barriers of distance and circumstance through education.”

By creating safe learning spaces, Ajay empowers learners not only to master mathematics but to believe in their own voices.

Teaching as Purpose

With over two decades of experience, Ajay sees his work as more than a profession.

“This work is my purpose. It’s how I give back. It is a privilege to contribute to building a more confident, empowered, and educated future generation, one learner at a time. Along the way, I also get to connect with different cultures and learn from them.”

Joy in the Breakthroughs

For Ajay, the most rewarding moments come when a student realizes, “I can do this.”

“The fulfillment comes from seeing a student’s eyes light up with understanding. That confidence transcends academics and changes lives forever.”

He recalls one particular moment with a student in Kakuma:

“After many sessions exploring mathematical concepts, the breakthrough finally came. His joy wasn’t about a grade, it was the silent shattering of doubt. Then he said something I’ll never forget: ‘I want to become what you are for me.’ In that moment, I didn’t just see a student, I saw a future educator.”

Building Bonds, Creating Ripples

Ajay believes that genuine bonds are the foundation of meaningful change.

“My two decades of teaching have taught me that real change happens through trust. Empowered students become empowered community members. They gain not just academic skills, but the life skills and voice to lead and inspire others.”

The Motivation to Show Up

What keeps him going? The learners themselves.

“The unwavering enthusiasm of my students. Despite challenges, their hunger to learn is incredible. Their courage fuels my own. I show up because they never stop showing up.”

Beyond Mathematics

Outside of numbers, Ajay carries a passion for social work.

“For over a decade before joining Brave Future, I guided my students in leading social initiatives rooted in compassion, everything from road safety campaigns to animal welfare, disaster relief, and local clean-ups. Education is about responsibility as much as knowledge.”
