Cláudia Manero: Where Creativity Meets Purpose
Courageous Paths: Women Building Their Own Futures
A
t Brave Future, we don’t just tell stories. We listen for the quiet ones too, the kind that unfold over time, shaped by creativity, resilience, and staying true to what matters.
After introducing the heart behind our mission in Meet the Team, we’re excited to begin a new chapter: Courageous Paths: Women Building Their Own Futures.
This series is about real women building meaningful lives on their own terms. Women who follow their intuition. Who give generously. Who keep moving, even when the road gets complicated.
Our first story brings you into the world of Cláudia Manero, a designer, educator, and thinker whose journey has been guided not by one big moment, but by many small ones, shaped by art, curiosity, and the courage to create.
A Childhood Full of Color
Cláudia didn’t fall into creativity later in life. She was raised inside it.
Her mother, a painter, didn’t just teach her how to make art. She showed her how to live it. Their home was filled with colors, textures, and stories waiting to be told.
For Cláudia, design became more than aesthetics. It became a way of expressing emotion. A language for things that didn’t always need words.
Years later, that early foundation would inspire Mary Tale, a fashion and home decor brand that brings together creativity, comfort, and the kind of love that lives in everyday moments, especially the ones between mothers and their children.
The Slow Start
Building something from scratch is rarely a smooth ride. Cláudia knows that well.
In the early days, there was uncertainty. Long periods of waiting. The challenge of being seen, of being taken seriously. Nothing about the process was instant.
But she kept going.
She didn’t rush. She didn’t water down her work to fit a mold. She leaned on persistence, discipline, and a quiet kind of belief that the right people would eventually find what she was creating.
And they did.
Making Space for Ideas to Grow
When we asked Cláudia what helped her through the difficult seasons, she paused, then said:
“Creativity needs time and space to mature.”
It’s something she learned over the years, that pushing too hard can get in the way. That trusting your own pace is part of the process.
This approach is woven into the fabric of Mary Tale. Each piece is created with care, using sustainable materials and designs that hold meaning. Not because it’s trendy, but because it feels right.
Her work is less about keeping up and more about staying grounded. Letting each idea grow into itself.
A Vision for the Future
Cláudia hopes the next generation of women in design will feel free to do things differently.
“I hope they can do better. Even if it’s less, that it’s better.”
For her, “better” means work that’s intentional. Honest. Rooted in values that support people and the planet.
These aren’t just ideas she talks about, they’re what guide Mary Tale every day. From the people involved in production to the materials chosen, there’s a quiet commitment to care in every decision.
What Teaching Has Taught Her
Cláudia doesn’t teach from a place of having all the answers.
She sees teaching as a conversation. A place where different perspectives come together and everyone grows, including her.
Her students challenge her. They inspire her to stay curious. They remind her that creativity isn’t something you master and move on from. It’s something you return to, again and again, with fresh eyes.
Her Definition of Courage
If you ask Cláudia what courage looks like, she won’t talk about taking big leaps.
She’ll tell you it’s more about staying true to your values. Showing up, even when it’s quiet. Believing in what you’re building, even when no one else sees it yet.
“Courage is believing in something and remaining faithful to it.”
That belief has shaped her work, her life, and the community she’s built around it.
Looking Ahead
Cláudia isn’t looking for the spotlight. What she wants is deeper. More lasting.
She’s continuing to explore how design, education, and sustainability can come together to make real impact, not just in products, but in people’s lives.
Her story reminds us that building something meaningful doesn’t always come with fireworks. Sometimes, it’s slow. Sometimes, it’s quiet. But it’s always worth it.
